Getting Nailed, Again

Getting Nailed, Again

Few things are as synonymous with pampering as pedicures. Available in almost every shopping center in suburbia this relatively inexpensive luxury usually requires no appointment and can be enjoyed solo or with friends. I know many people who equate “me time” as soaking in a tub of warm water filled with fuzzy suds while mulling through fashion magazines and forgetting all your worries.

Pedicures are so innocuous that oftentimes I see mommies with very young daughters enjoying this side by side as a kind of modern rite of passage. Even with my own daughter, I won’t lie and say I wasn’t excited and a bit proud when she came up and asked to join me at the nail salon. When we left with matching daisy designs on our toes I couldn’t help but feel that sense of delicate femininity that accompanies little girls and all they do. While my nails are typically a rotating spectacle of nudes, pinks and reds I oftentimes allow myself more creativity when it comes to my toes. Easily hidden from view should you choose, toes can pull off the brightest of colors and the coolest designs without attracting too much attention.

While a basic pedicure is often underrated I occasionally like to add on one of those awesome upgrades that believe me are worth the upcharge. Whether it’s a paraffin dip, a lavender-scented scrub, or an extra 5 minutes of massage…those little indulgences do a soul good. Keeping in tune with the feel of this blog I once again remind you to take time out, for your body, mind and soul as you are completely worth it.
