I shamefully admit I did not know who Jeffree Star was until fairly recently. How I missed his big debut on MySpace I will never know because my profile wallpaper and top 8 were basically by entire life during that era. Anyway, he has re-emerged into the mainstream conscious and all I have to say is WOW. Palettes are having a moment right now and between the Tartes, Kylie’s, Nakeds etc. I really didn’t think there was room for one more “must have.”

I was wrong…the Jeffree Star line is a true “must have” most else are simply “nice to haves.” I started with the Beauty Killer Eyeshadow Palette. The packaging is anything but streamlined and demure; it’s huge and literally bullies everything else off your vanity as it demands major real estate. The color selections seem haphazard at first yet turn out to be a nice surprise, unlike others that follow a specific theme/ color scheme. The colors include matte, frost and glitter finishes in shades like Star Power, Expensive, Rich Bitch, Violence, Princess, Courtney, Confession, Vanity, China White and Black Rainbow.

As far as performance; damn, these shades give theater makeup a run for its money. Vivid, vibrant, rich, intense, powerful, fully saturated color payoff that epitomizes everything color should be. The staying power is unbelievable and while some shades still scare the hell out of me I’m working towards them as leaving them unused is makeup blasphemy. His skin frost highlighter is another bad bitch that demands attention with its oversized hot pink packaging and intense pigmentation. I found no rouge hairs in my compact but had I; I’d probably tweeze that sucker out and keep using it because the buttery formula is too good to waste.

I also purchased the Velour Liquid Lipstick in Sagittarius (now sold out). I gravitate towards light pinks and nudes so this was a nice mix between the two with a hint of purple undertone that complemented my skin tone beautifully. My lips looked moist and supple and the staying power was great, so great in fact I was concerned I’d be rocking my Sagittarius lips for two days straight. Finally, the Velour Lip Scrub in Strawberry Gum smells, looks (and tastes…shhhh) just like the real thing. It’s yummy and delicious and smooths my lips to a rosy, natural hue. I’m officially obsessed.
