Massage Serenity

Massage, relaxation, tension release

If you are overly stressed and sore from your weekly hardships, massages are the way to go. There are so many different varieties of massages out there to sooth your issues and take you into a blissful and serene fantasy. On special occasions when I am granted a certificate for a particular massage, I come out feeling as if I have melted all my troubles away. The feel of strong hands unknotting my tight muscles and releasing the tension and lactic acids from my muscles takes me into a dreamlike state of mind where I am at peace. I continue my serene journey by drinking a lot of water to help my body in the release of toxins that have been internally removed. I even go a step further and continue to eat healthy and mindfully as to honor my body in its new cleansing journey. When I was a fitness instructor, I had a lot of clients approach me wondering which type of massage therapy is right for them. I have provided some quick explanations on the more popular types of massages that one can receive at a spa or massage place.

Deep Tissue: When it comes to a Deep Tissue massage, the therapist will focus on specific areas of the body which have muscle knots (adhesions). They will use friction and/or strokes across the grain of the muscles to reach deep into the muscles layers and connective tissues.

Swedish: Swedish massages are not as deep or painful as the Deep Tissue massages because the therapist uses different stroke methods to address the underlying problems. There are five basic strokes in Swedish massage therapy: effleurage (long smooth strokes), petrissage (kneading, rolling, and lifting), friction (wringing or small circular movements), tapotement (percussion), and vibration (rocking and shaking movements).  https://www.verywell.com/most-popular-types-of-massage-89741

Shiatsu:  Shiatsu is a Japanese-style of massage where the therapist will use hands, fingers, and elbows to rhythmically massage the body.

Aromatherapy: If you want to indulge in a massage filled with essential oils that target specific needs such as energize, revitalize, relax, and release tension and headaches, then this is the right choice for you.

Sports:  Sports massages are for those athletes and nonathletes that are experiencing limited mobility and/or sports-related injuries. This type of massage helps to improve flexibility and mobility and helps the body perform sports/fitness related activities better.

Prenatal: Specifically geared for the pregnant woman to promote relaxation and relieve pain and tension in the lower back or other areas of her body.

Thai: Thai massages are a great stretching style of massage choice. The therapist uses a variety of poses and postures to stretch and align your spine and body.

Reflexology: Reflexology is the style of massage that uses most of those great functions found in a massage machine such as kneading, tapping and pulsing. The therapist provides pressure on your hands and feet which is believed to be connected to organs and other parts of your body. In doing so, your reflex points sends signals to the nervous system and stimulates our body to reduce discomfort.

Hot Stone: The therapist uses smooth and heated stones in specific areas of the body and massages that area with the stone. It is supposed to relax and loosen tight muscles.

Now that I have briefed you a little on a few of the more popular style of massages, which one is the right choice for you?
