NutriBiotic Protein: Taste Great & It’s Good For You Too!

pea protein, rice protein, greens & veggies, plant-based protein, vegan, raw
I got the opportunity to meet the NutriBiotic brand and their products at the Natural Expo this year in Orange County. They offer a vast variety of products ranging from grapefruit seed extracts to protein powders, supplements and body care items. I also got the opportunity to test out their Organic Protein + Greens & Veggies, Pea Protein in Vanilla flavor and their Rice Protein also in Vanilla flavor. My favorite of the three products was the rice protein. It was smooth, rich and delicious! It felt almost as if I was enjoying a dessert drink rather than a protein drink. A two-tablespoon serving size contains 60 calories, 2 grams of carbohydrates and 12 grams of protein. These are great numbers when it comes to a vegan protein option.

The Organic Protein + Greens & Veggies (Rich Vanilla flavor) is rich in nutrients combining 4 vegan protein sources; pea, rice, sacha inchi, and hemp. The vegetable ingredients included organic barley grass, organic alfalfa grass, organic broccoli, organic carrot, organic kale, and organic spinach along with a few other ingredients. I love that the ingredients are organic and the combination provides all the necessary nutrients for energy, vitality, and organ support for your active lifestyle. I blended the sample packet (36 grams) with my favorite nut milk and lots of ice. The packet offered one serving which provided 120 calories, 11 grams of carbs, 20 grams of protein and vitamin A, C, calcium, iron, phosphorus, sodium, and potassium. Once I blended my shake, it tasted just like the ones sold at popular juice stores especially when I get an extra shot of veggies. This was a very satisfying shake and very filling. I was full of energy and didn’t experience any stomach discomfort that I have felt in the past from the overload of powerful veggies. This was a very nutritious and great choice for those long days when you need a little spurt of energy with a satisfying protein punch.

The Pea Protein in Vanilla flavor was also good but not my favorite.  It wasn’t because it doesn’t contain great nutritional values, it actually does: 20 grams (3 tablespoons) contain 16 grams of protein, 1 gram of carbohydrates and 80 calories. This dislike has more to do with my personal preference of protein choice. I love to eat different types of legumes but I prefer to cook them and have them by themselves or with rice. When it is mixed with water or vegan milk products, I just can’t enjoy it the same. I actually had my husband do a taste-test (he is not vegan) so that I can write a non-judgmental review of this particular product. He actually did enjoy the taste and consistency of the protein shake (mixed with fat-free real milk and ice) and did not experience any stomach sensitivity. He continued use of the samples and takes them after his nightly workout sessions. This was a big hit for him who usually chooses whey protein powders.

My overall experience using NutriBiotics products has been positive and satisfying. They have a lot of different varieties and good-for-you products. My only wish was that I could’ve tried the chocolate flavored protein powders – chocolate is always my first choice, but vanilla comes in a strong second. This is a great company offering supreme choices of products, to find out more go to www.nutribiotic.com/
