Hair is everything…or so I believe it is. I remember when I use to have long, healthy, shiny and beautiful hair, back when I was 14 years old. Now, it’s a completely different story. My hair is frail, weak, damaged and thinning. I know, a total nightmare. It’s not because of my diet or lack of self-care but rather from years of bleaching and home box dying.
I fantasize about those beautiful long locks with beach curls and baby blonde strands. But the reality is that my hair looks like chewed up straw. In my mind I envision my hair to look a certain way but the moment I look at pictures, I quickly see my reality. That is why I said good-bye to blonde (yes, I am internally crying) and hello to a darker shade.
I always go to a hair salon with a certain picture in mind but when I come out, it never quite looks the same. This time I went to Hair By Nana in Irvine, CA. A lovely husband and wife team who have a 5-star Yelp rating and whose pictures of hair transformations are amazing.
I took a picture of what some call balayage, others call it root shading and some even call it ombre. I call it blonde with brown low lights. Nana looked at the picture and decided it would be best to put in a lot of low lights and fix the blonde lights. I was a little hesitant but I knew I just needed a change. The big reveal showed this incredibly beautiful and healthy looking head of hair. Of course, they style it to perfection (which helps) but it really didn’t look like the same head of hair.
I do miss that platinum blonde hair that I have had since I was 15 but at least my hair looks healthier. I don’t style it as beautiful as hairdresser do but all in all, it does look better than my old straw-like hair. What are your thoughts on my hair transformation?
