Peppa Pig Live! Big Splash in New Jersey’s Paramount Theater (Asbury Park)

My husband out of the kindness of his heart decided to take the family on a trip to New Jersey to see the Peppa Pig show for my little girls 3rd birthday. The kids were so excited in anticipation for this trip and the show. I was expecting this grand show to be like the others that I’ve attended like Yo Gabba Gabba, Sofia the First and Jake and the Neverland Pirates, Disney Princess on Ice and so forth. To my surprise, this show was a big waste of money and time. If your kids have any illusion that Peppa is an actual real-life character, this show will crush those little dreams.

Peppa and her family were puppeteers rolling around the theater with the help of actors dressed in black (I think they hoped kids wouldn’t see them.) The actors were taller than the puppeteers and the whole production was just plain bad. Many of the main friends of Peppa were nowhere to be found and even Mummy Pig played a very small role. There was a lot of singing and the kids in the audience were all standing, dancing and having fun for certain parts of the show. The show was supposed to be 1.5 hours with a 15-minute intermission but as I constantly eyed my watch, the show lasted more like 1 hour and 20 minutes. So, on top of paying over $250.00 for these tickets (family of 5), we were jibbed 10 minutes of a show. The best part about the show for the parents was the ability to purchase alcohol at the bar. Needless to say that after a few rum and cokes I was happily dancing my way out of the show.  After the show was over curiosity set in and I quickly peruse my phone for some reviews from other parents who had attended previous shows…yeap! I was not alone… Peppa Pig Big Live! Splash of Disappointment.
